The Standing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hold a public hearing to examine the Auditor General’s performance report, “Improving Financial Accountability and Transparency: Long-term Financial Sustainability, February 2025” on Thursday, 4 September 2025, starting 10:00 am.
Members of the PAC reviewed and discussed the Auditor General’s report during the Committee’s regular administrative meeting on 19 June and agreed to hold a public hearing to further investigate the report.
Kenneth Jefferson will attend as a witness in his capacity as the Financial Secretary and Chief Officer for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. Additionally, Honourable Franz Manderson will attend as a witness in his capacity as Deputy Governor.
In the latest performance report, which is available on the website of the Office of the Auditor General at www.auditorgeneral.gov.ky, the Auditor General makes six recommendations, primarily to Chief Officers and the Financial Secretary.
In its upcoming hearing, the Members of the Public Accounts Committee will question the two witnesses on the contents of the Auditor General’s report in accordance with Parliament Standing Order 97(4) and Section 87(1) of the Cayman Islands Constitution Order 2009, which empowers the PAC with the responsibility to examine all authorities and Government-owned companies.
Following the hearing, the PAC will prepare its own report to accompany the Auditor General’s report. The Committee may make additional recommendations to the Financial Secretary, Chief Officers or to the Government pursuant to Standing Order 97(7).
