The annual Making Waves award ceremony takes place on Thursday, 31 July, and the organisers at Cayman Connection are inviting the public to come out and celebrate a group of Caymanians who are making significant contributions worldwide. Now in its fourth year, the Making Waves award programme recognises and lauds the exceptional achievements of Caymanians having a major impact both at home and abroad, and who exemplify excellence, leadership, and community spirit.

The free event takes place at the Harquail Theatre starting with a welcome reception at 6pm, followed by the ceremony at 7pm when the award recipients will be officially announced. Eleven Caymanians will be honoured in the areas of education; arts, culture and heritage; sports; legal and professional services; health and wellness; travel and hospitality; STEM; inclusion; and environment and sustainability.  Members of the public can register their attendance at https://caymanconnection.org/events/

Cayman Connection is a global network dedicated to supporting Caymanians overseas by providing essential resources, connections, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through initiatives like the Making Waves Awards, the organisation continues to foster a strong sense of community and pride among Caymanians worldwide.

"We are incredibly proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of Caymanians around the world through the Making Waves Awards. Each nominee and winner exemplify the spirit, resilience, and innovation that make our global Caymanian community so remarkable," said Kate Kandiah, Cayman Connection Founding Director. "This celebration is about shining a light on those who are making an impact far and wide while staying deeply connected to our islands and each other."   The Making Waves awards are sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Environment & Sustainability, Ministry of Tourism & Trade Development, Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage, Bullish, Maples Group and the Ministry of Social Development & Innovation. "The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability is proud to stand as gold sponsor of the Making Waves Awards because this initiative aligns deeply with our core values.

The celebration of resilience, purpose, and the incredible potential of Caymanians, resonates so much with our Ministry, and by extension, our government's ethos of being a world class civil service," said Honourable Katherine Ebanks-Wilks. "Cayman Connection is a bridge that helps our brightest minds cross from where they are to where they are meant to be, all the while ensuring that they stay grounded in their identity while being bold in their pursuits. We support this cause wholeheartedly because when Caymanians make waves around the world, those waves ripple back home, and we all rise together." Winners of the Making Waves Awards receive a bursary towards their further education or career development and participate in a year-long programme with Cayman Connection. This includes mentoring support, Q&A webinars, podcasts, and PR opportunities to further share their story to inspire others.
