UPDATE: Police Complete Search of North Side High School, 25 September

 

This evening, 25 September, following a report of an illegal weapon being seen on campus, police conducted a comprehensive search of the Clifton Hunter High School buildings, grounds and surrounding area, utilising RCIPS resources including K-9 Units and the police drone. The search concluded with no illegal weapon being found. Police have also spoken with a number of students and school staff members and reviewed CCTV footage. No evidence has been found to substantiate the report at this time.

 

Police remain in close contact with school officials, and officials from the Ministry of Education of Training and the Department of Education. Additional police resources will be provided to the school tomorrow, 26 September.

 

The matter remains under investigation, and anyone with information which may be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact 949-4222.

On 25 September, an RCIPS school resource officer at the Clifton Hunter High School was alerted to a report that an illegal weapon had allegedly been seen in the possession of a student there. Police attended the school, spoke to the parties involved, and conducted a search of the area, along with school staff and security officers, however no weapon was found.

 

The RCIPS has deployed additional resources, including K-9 Units, police drone and other staff, to conduct a comprehensive search of the school buildings, grounds, and surrounding area. A further update will follow once the search has been concluded.

 

A full police investigation into this matter is underway. The RCIPS remains in close contact with school authorities, and will be providing additional police resources to the school tomorrow, 26 September.
