Cayman’s international reputation, how the jurisdiction is perceived globally and strategies for building greater trust will be among the issues explored at this year’s Spectrum.
The annual financial services conference, organised by Cayman consulting firm FTS, takes place on 1 October at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
It brings together leaders from across financial services, government and the regulatory community to examine the issues shaping Cayman’s role in the global financial system.
A panel discussion titled ‘Cayman Through a Global Lens’ will focus specifically on the jurisdiction’s reputation, rankings and position within international finance.
The session will feature Michael Mainelli, the economist who helped design the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), Cayman Finance CEO Steve McIntosh, and Jasmine Kees, who works with individuals and companies to build trust and brand equity.
Also joining the panel will be Kimberly Wood, who has more than 20 experience in communications, brand strategy and business development in the financial services sector and Chad Kolton, a senior strategic communications and public affairs specialist with nearly 30 years’ experience advising governments and corporations.
They will consider what international perceptions of Cayman mean for the jurisdiction and how organisations can respond strategically in an environment where reputation can influence how a financial centre and its firms are understood.
The conversation will continue beyond the main conference with a new marketing, communications and business development workshop on 2 October at George Town Yacht Club, led by Kees and Cayman-based AI strategist Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein.
Titled ‘From Perception to Trust’, the three-hour workshop will examine how Cayman financial services firms can communicate their substance more effectively, strengthen trust and reputation, and navigate an increasingly AI-shaped market.
Kees will lead a session on ‘The Trust Gap: How Cayman Firms Can Communicate Substance, Not Spin’, examining the gap between Cayman’s market reality and how it is understood internationally.
The workshop will explore how firms can address legacy offshore perceptions, make expertise more visible and use credible people, evidence and relationship-led engagement to build trust.
Deasey-Weinstein will focus on practical AI adoption, including where generative AI can add value in marketing, communications and business development, alongside issues such as confidentiality, governance, accountability and human oversight.
A panel discussion will bring these issues together, examining Cayman’s market reputation, responsible AI adoption and trust.
The workshop is designed for marketing, communications and business development leaders across Cayman’s financial services sector, with attendees leaving with a practical framework for identifying a priority audience, a perception gap and a specific action to take over the following 90 days.
The wider Spectrum programme on 1 October will also examine the changing international tax and transparency landscape, including AEOI, Pillar Two and CRS 2.0, as well as artificial intelligence, crypto and fintech, regulation and the investment funds sector.
Spectrum founder and economist Paul Byles said: “Cayman has made significant progress in strengthening its regulatory framework and demonstrating the substance and sophistication of its financial services industry. But reputation is not shaped by regulation alone. We also need to understand how Cayman is viewed internationally, where gaps in perception still exist and how we communicate our strengths more effectively. Spectrum is about creating space for those kinds of practical, forward-looking conversations.”
Spectrum 2026 is open to senior managers, partners and financial services leaders across the public and private sectors.
The main Spectrum conference takes place on 1 October from 8am to 5pm, followed by the ‘From Perception to Trust’ workshop on 2 October from 9am to noon. Tickets are available for each event individually, with a discounted bundle available for those attending both.
