The Cayman Islands will see an increase in direct flights from Florida this winter with the return of Spirit Airlines' nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman. The route is scheduled to resume on December 4, 2025, operating three times a week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The new service is part of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to expand airlift into the destination, with a particular focus on the Florida market. Officials say the return of the route follows a series of recent meetings with Spirit Airlines as part of a broader aviation strategy.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development, Hon. Gary Rutty, welcomed the move, noting the importance of additional flight options for both residents and visitors.
Director of Tourism Rosa Harris added:
“The return of the Spirit Airlines service from Fort Lauderdale increases our seat capacity from the critical Florida market. This flight demonstrates the confidence that the airline has in the Cayman Islands as a destination, which will drive demand for tickets. We look forward to a growth in visitor arrivals from this new flight.”
The Cayman Islands has reported strong demand for the upcoming fall and winter travel seasons, with the addition of the Spirit route expected to further boost visitor arrivals.
Tickets for the new service are now on sale, with introductory fares available.
