During a reception at the Governor’s residence, the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) held the 2023 Stingray Tourism Awards winners.

The Cayman Stingray Tourism Awards highlight and appreciate those tourism employees who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding achievements and stellar service.

President of the CITA Mr. Troy Leacock thanked each for the finalists for providing the quality of service that the entire industry aspires to achieve. “This year, the nominations were so well received and the individual stories so inspiring that our judges had a tough time during the selection process’, he said. On hand to present the awards was Her Excellency the Governor, Mrs. Jane Owen.

The Winners of the Stingray Tourism Awards are as follows:

Employee of the Year awards in the following sectors:

  • Accommodations - Rooms Front of House Supervisor at the Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa, Shandie Tatum.
  • Watersports - Tortuga Divers - Dive Instructor, Patrick Rogers.
  • Restaurants - Ritz Carlton St June Server, Jerome Tutor.

Executive Director of the CITA, Mr. Jay Ehrhart, explained that each recipient received a Caymanite trophy made locally by Horacio Esteban and a round trip ticket to any Cayman Airways Destination. The runners up received a gift package from Tortuga Distributors of a bottle of champagne and a large rum cake.

The Cayman Islands would not be the incredible destination that it is - without the ladies and gentlemen in our industry that demonstrate what it is to be Caymankind on a daily basis,” said Mr. Ehrhart. He also thanked Governor Owen for her generosity in hosting this year’s ceremony.
