The Ministry of Tourism and Trade Development (MTTD) and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) hosted a networking event for current and past Ministry of Tourism scholarship recipients at Union Grill on Thursday, 25 July. The event was attended by approximately 65 guests including government officials, current and past scholarship recipients and industry partners.

The networking event provided a valuable platform for scholars to connect, share experiences and foster relationships that support their personal and professional growth. It also served as a vehicle to celebrate the achievements of recent graduates and officially introduce the new cohort of Ministry of Tourism scholars to the alumni network.

Inspiring remarks were delivered by two Ministry of Tourism scholars, Laurent Bodden and Mohyndra Brown, who shared their educational and professional journeys and highlighted the pivotal role that the Ministry of Tourism scholarship played in their development.

“It was truly a pleasure to meet such an inspiring group of young Caymanian scholars, and I was genuinely impressed by their talent, drive and ambition,” said Hon. Gary Rutty, Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism. “Supporting Caymanians who are passionate about entering the tourism industry and are pursuing tertiary education is not just a priority, it is essential for the future sustainability of our tourism sector. I wish them every success and I look forward to the meaningful contributions they will make to the industry upon the completion of their studies.”
