Tomlinson Furniture marked its golden anniversary in style on Thursday 21 August by hosting a vibrant Business After Hours event in partnership with the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce. The celebration drew a lively crowd of Chamber members and guests to the Tomlinson Building on Walkers Road, where two floors of beautifully curated furniture and interiors set the stage for an evening of connection, celebration, and Caymanian pride.
Guests enjoyed refreshments, exclusive in-store specials, and behind-the-scenes tours of the showroom—including the impressive Mattress Gallery and Custom Interiors Division. The event was a chance to mingle, explore, and reflect on five decades of local business excellence.
“Business After Hours is a great way to connect with our community,” said Renee Whorms, General Manager of Tomlinson Furniture. “For those who might be new to seeing our company, it gives a ‘one-on-one’ opportunity. It’s also a great way for the business community to support one another.”
The evening was filled with gratitude and reflection. Jackie Tomlinson-Smith, owner of Tomlinson Furniture, shared:
“We’re very thankful to God and to our community that we are still able to survive. I think that’s down to good service, exceptional prices, and quality.”
She added with a smile, “Don’t mark up your prices too much—keep them reasonable and people will buy. We’re not the highest end, and we’re comfortable catering to the middle of the road, where most people are.”
Chamber President Omari Corbin also joined the celebration, praising the Tomlinson legacy:
“We are here at Tomlinson Furniture celebrating their 50th anniversary—50 years of providing service to the Cayman Islands. It’s an amazing family, a truly Caymanian family with strong entrepreneurship. Here’s to their next 50 years and more!”
The event was not only a celebration of Tomlinson’s journey but also a testament to the strength and spirit of Cayman’s business community. As the Chamber continues its own 60th anniversary celebrations, events like these remind us of the value of connection, collaboration, and community.
