On Monday, 12 October, while conducting a pro-active anti-burglary operation in the North Side area, RCIPS officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm activated at a residence on Water Cay Road.
Officers attended the location and deployed a drone to locate the suspects. The drone operators were able to identify two men who were attempting to flee the location, and the men, ages 32 and 37 both of West Bay, were arrested and taken into custody.
Both men have since been formally charged with Burglary and Criminal Trespass and will appear before the court on Thursday 15th October.
With assistance from the Cayman Islands Coast Guard, officers conducted further searches along the coastline where stolen property was recovered but no other perpetrators were found.
During enquiries, officers spoke with the occupants of the residence on Water Cay Road, who reported that a quantity of cash and jewellery were stolen.
It is also reported that cash, jewellery and personal items were stolen at a separate residence in the community.
The burglary incidents remain under police investigation.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Water Cay Road area between Sunday night and the early morning hours of Monday, 12 October, are encouraged to contact the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.
