UPDATE: Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Relation to West Bay Incident, 18 November
The man, age 46, residing in West Bay, who was arrested in relation to a serious assault in West Bay, on Saturday, 15 November, has been formally charged with Attempted Murder, Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, Possession of an Offensive Weapon, and Damage to Property.
He appeared in court yesterday, 17 November, and was remanded in custody, pending a further appearance.
The man who was wounded in the incident has since been discharged from hospital.
Police Investigate Incident of Attempted Murder that Occurred in West Bay, 15 November
Just after 12:30 PM on Saturday, 15 November, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a disturbance at a residence located on Hell Road in West Bay.
When the officers arrived at the location, they met with a woman who appeared to be in distress. She recounted to the officers that a man who is known to her assaulted another man who was at the location, using a machete. Officers located the injured male, who had lacerations to his head and face. The officers provided the wounded man with first aid until the ambulance arrived and transported the man to the hospital, where he is being treated for what is believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The woman involved in the incident reported minor injuries to the police and declined medical attention.
A 46-year-old man of West Bay was located and arrested on suspicion of Attempted Murder. The man remains in custody pending further investigation. Detectives are encouraging anyone with information pertaining to this incident to call the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999.
