Water Authority-Cayman would like to provide an update on the Boil Water Notice in Cayman Brac.
A crew has been working through the night, systematically flushing the main north-east pipeline and conducting tests on salinity and other parameters. Simultaneously, another crew has been performing work and tests at the water production plant to bring salinity levels back in line with the Authority’s strict water quality standards.
Thus far, the salinity levels at the production plant have normalised. In addition, the salinity levels along the north-east pipeline up to the museum are stabilising. Flushing work will continue along the north-east pipeline, then move to the south side, then the north-west pipeline, and then to side roads. As our crew is on the road flushing the pipelines, we ask that the motoring public drive with caution to ensure their safety and that of our crew.
Tests conducted so far indicate that, if consumed, the water would not be harmful to your health. However, out of an abundance of caution, the boil water notice remains in effect, as we work to ensure the salt level meets our water quality standards.
To comply with the notice, customers should boil their water before consuming it, including drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing their teeth.
Instructions:
The Authority appreciates the public’s patience and understanding. Further updates will be provided via our website www.waterauthority.ky.
