UPDATE: CICG Confirms Identity of Body Recovered Following Search, 14 October

Cayman Islands Coast Guard can now confirm the identity of the man who went missing from a boat in the North Sound on Monday, 11 October, whose body was recovered yesterday, Wednesday, 13 October.

He is Kasun Tharuka Madushanka Fernando, 32 years old, a Sri Lankan national, residing in Cayman.

The CICG and RCIPS express condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

AM UPDATE: The Cayman Islands Coast Guard confirmed, midday, 13 October, that the search for the man who went missing from a vessel in the North Sound on Monday evening, 11 October, was concluded. A body was detected at 11.30am, SW of Barkers Cay, and was recovered from the ocean shortly after 11.45am.

Efforts are currently underway to confirm the identity with next of kin.

The CICG and RCIPS would like to thank the members of the public that supported the search and rescue efforts.
