It was another record breaking year for the Brac Breeze Fusion 5K Walk/Run as 96 runners and walkers registered to participate in the annual event. A Fixture on the Cayman Brac event circuit, the Brac Breeze Fusion, now in its 4th year, has continued to grow and draw large numbers.

Although the field proved to be larger and more competitive than previous years, Sean-Douglas Valentine breezed to his 4th Championship title as leader of the Cayman Brac runners. The Valentine family has dominated the course since inception, with sister Di’Jhaney Valentine leading the women’s division to her 2nd consecutive Championship Title, and four consecutive top 3 finishes.

The overall top Male and Female finishers were:

Top Male:

Sean-Douglas Valentine (age 16) – 20.50

Alex Anglin (age 14) – 22.08

Shomario Clarke (age 14) – 22.33

Top Female:

Di’ Jhaney Valentine (age 14) – 29.26

Liesel Van der Touw (age 47) – 30.01

Dee Blackman (age 40) – 32.23

Deputy District Commissioner, Mark Tibbetts commented after the event, “The Breeze Fusion 5K Walk/Run presents another opportunity for our community to be active, support local causes with great impact, whilst enjoying the natural beauty of the island. It is a joy to see the various age groups come together in a competitive yet fun environment. As a staple in the communication industry, Radio Cayman continues to include the Sister Islands with this event and we look forward to working with them every year!”

  1. event organized by Radio Cayman and Breeze FM, launched in 2016 as an extension of the Annual Grand Cayman Breeze Walk/Run every November. Numerous community groups including District Administration, Sister Islands Sports Office, the RCIPS, Red Cross, CaymaActive.com, Lions Club of Cayman Brac, and the Backyard Farmers came together for this year’s charity Walk/Run to raise funds in support of the Leo’s Club of Grand Cayman.

Deputy Director of Radio Cayman, Paulette Conolly-Bailey said “It was an electrifying morning in the Brac and everything went off smoothly. Everyone had a great time supporting the project and I was elated at how much the participation has grown in four short years. I can’t wait for next year’s event to roll around and I’m thankful for all the sponsors, volunteers and participants who made it a big success.”

This year’s event was made possibly thanks to the generous support of the corporate community, including Yello, the Ministry of District Administration, Tourism & Transport, Kirkconnell Market, Cayman National Bank, Subway, RVC Physiotherapy & Chiropractic, Cayman Water, Roma United S.C., Dasani, Fine Print, Green Machine, Optical Outlook, Barry’s Golden Jerk, Four D’s Car Rental, & Brac Snacks.
