World Mental Health Day is observed annually around the world on 10 October. Now in its third year, Cayman’s World Mental Health Day symposium will take place again on the day and is aimed at highlighting the importance of mental health for everyone.
Hosted by Kelly Holding Events & Communications in partnership with multi-specialty counselling centre Infinite Mindcare, the event will be held at Camana Bay Cinemas from 9am to 2pm on Friday, 10 October under the recurring theme “Prioritising Our Mental Health”.
Attendees will have the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions led by Infinite Mindcare’s team of qualified and experienced therapists as well as special guests. Every hour there will be four sessions to choose from covering topics such as:
· The Edge of Overwhelm: How to Come Back to Yourself After Burnout;
· Generational Trauma: Developing Awareness and How to Respond;
· Mental Fitness: Turning Anxiety Into Strength;
· Carrying Grief: Learning to Live with Loss; and
· Faith and Mental Health: Finding Hope and Healing
In addition, attendees can enjoy head and neck massages, mindful puzzles, breathing sessions and games and refreshments from 9am as well as in between sessions. Mental health support organisations Alex Panton Foundation, Loud Silent Voices and CayMind will also have information tables at the event.
“Mental health challenges remain a global concern, underscoring the importance of events such as this. The symposium will encourage open dialogue around mental well-being and offer attendees practical information they can immediately apply in their daily lives,” said Rhonda Kelly, CEO of Kelly Holding.
“In Cayman, we’ve noticed a marked increase in the conversations around workplace well-being, with more employers recognising that mental health has a direct impact on performance, retention and organisational culture. At the same time, access to services has improved as more insurance providers now include mental health coverage and counselling benefits in their plans.
Because the majority of people seeking support are working-age adults, this event is intentionally geared toward both employers and employees. It will give them practical tools to better support one another while still meeting organisational objectives, acknowledging that a healthy workforce is essential to long-term business success.”
Sutton Burke, Owner/Clinical Director at Infinite Mindcare echoed Ms. Kelly’s sentiments.
“Prioritising mental health is no longer optional; it’s essential for thriving in today’s fast-paced world. Mental health shapes how we function, both individually and collectively. This symposium offers an opportunity to better understand the challenges many people are facing and to explore innovative ways to address them,” said Ms. Burke.
“By sharing practical, evidence-based strategies, we aim to empower attendees to create healthier environments at work and in their personal lives. Our goal is to spark insight, drive meaningful change, and equip people with the tools to navigate modern life with resilience.”
