Cayman Brac Rotary Club hosted its Annual Fry Jack Fishing tournament on September 12, 2026! Our focus gear for kids, with the theme “Get Hook On Fishing, Not On Drugs.” This event has been a beloved tradition for over thirty-five years, deeply embedded in our community’s culture and spirit.
For the first time, we’ve partnered with the Ministry of District Administration and Home Affairs, Boys 2 Men, and the National Drug Council.
A group of six adults and ten boys joined us from Grand Cayman, adding to the event’s excitement. Mr. Simon Miller, a familiar face to the Brac, was the lead advisor. After chatting with local fishermen to make the event even better, they generously offered their boats for the children to fish. Captain Curtis Connor, Conrad Martin, and Miguel Martin launched their vessels from Scott Dock, welcoming eighteen souls aboard. Families and friends on the Brac also joined in, fishing for jack, with nine vessels participating in the tournament. The total catch was a whopping one hundred sixty five pounds! We had twenty kids and twenty-one adults participating. Each boat donated to the fish fry, which took place right at Panama Canal. Everyone enjoyed fry fish, fritters, and swankie—it was truly a community celebration.
The winners in the children category were: Youngest Boy Angler Isiah Scott; Youngest Female Angler Prisanic Scott-Smith. The heaviest catch was Bradyn Bodden.
In the adult category, winning the grand prize of five hundred dollars was angler Evol Miller with a crew of five souls, whose boat was named “Funny Shoe.”
