Her Excellency the Governor, Jane Owen, has appointed the members of the 2026 Electoral Boundary Commission, which held its first meeting on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. The Commission is chaired by Mr Mark Ramkerrysingh, with Mr Derek Norwood Jones and Mr Richard Christian serving as members. The Commission has been established under section 88 of the Cayman Islands Constitution. Its role is to review the boundaries of the Cayman Islands' 19 electoral constituencies and make recommendations for change. In doing so, the Commission will consider constitutional requirements, demographic changes and how voters are distributed across the Islands. Public consultation will be central to the Commission’s work. The terms of reference provide for consultation on the issues and options, draft maps and models, and final recommendations. The Commission is expected to complete its work and submit its final report within nine months of its appointment.
