Graduates, families and educators came together on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, as John Gray High School celebrated the Class of 2026 at its annual graduation ceremony. Held under the theme “Success, Regardless of the Weather,” the evening honoured a class whose determination and perseverance have carried them to this proud milestone.
The Honourable Rolston Anglin, J.P., M.P., Acting Premier and Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Education and Training, attended the ceremony and delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of the Cayman Islands. Also in attendance were the Acting Governor HE Gloria Mcfield-Nixon; Members of Parliament from both the Government and the Opposition; the Chief Officer of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms. Cetonya Cacho; the Director of the Department of Education Services, Mr. Mark Ray; senior education officials; and the many sponsors and supporters of John Gray High School.
Addressing the graduates, Minister Anglin commended a class that began its secondary education amid the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Class of 2026 has shown that success is determined not by the conditions in which we begin, but by our determination to rise above them,” said Minister Anglin.
“Our young people are our most precious resource, and every pathway, whether university, technical and vocational training or the world of work, is meaningful. My encouragement to each graduate is simple: know your worth, never stop growing and use your talents to help build a stronger Cayman.”
Principal Ms. Patricia Forbes noted that 92 per cent of the school’s 262 students graduated with a diploma, and that 52 attained the Level 2 Diploma with High Honours, up from 28 the previous year. She credited the graduates’ hard work and the staff who ensured every student felt a sense of belonging.
“Success did not happen by chance. You worked hard, sacrificed, persevered and gave that extra hour when necessary,” Ms. Forbes said. “Step confidently into the future, and always carry with you the values of John Gray: punctuality, responsibility and respect.”
Graduates received their diplomas from Minister Anglin, Chief Officer Cacho, Director Ray and Principal Forbes, and more than 50 subject and special awards were presented during the evening.
Isaiah Myles, the evening’s most decorated graduate, was named Student of the Year sponsored by Caribbean Utilities Company. He also received the DART STEM Award, the Overall Computer Science Award, a Cayman National Bank Supercup Award, and subject awards in Caribbean Studies, Geography, Electronic Document Preparation and Management, Microsoft Office Specialist and Life Skills.
Leah Warren received the Ernst & Young Academic Excellence Award as the top academic student, along with subject awards in Communication Studies and Principles of Business and a Cayman National Bank Supercup Award.
Delivering the Graduates’ Address, Head Boy Rayne Harding and Head Girl Johanah O’Connor reflected on the true meaning of their theme.
“Our theme is about something much bigger than the weather,” said Rayne. “It’s about what we do when life doesn’t go according to plan, how we keep moving when things get difficult, and how we help each other along the way.”
The Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education Services congratulates the John Gray High School Class of 2026 and thanks the parents, guardians, educators and sponsors whose support made this achievement possible.
