The Ministry of Education and Training reminds Caymanians that applications for the Local Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Grant close on Monday, 9 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
The grant is administered through the National Training & Development Unit (NTDU). It provides up to CI$15,000 per year for technical and vocational courses of 18 months or less at approved local institutions. Funding covers tuition and, where required, course books and equipment, and is paid directly to the institution.
The grant is open to persons with the right to be Caymanian who want to advance in their current field, move into a new technical career, or gain skills to enter the workforce.
Eligible courses are offered through Inspire Cayman Training, Cayman Career Academy, the Financial Services Institute and Brainchild Learning & Development Center.
Areas include heavy equipment, IT, beauty and wellness, financial services, and construction. “Learning does not stop when we leave school. For many adults, the right qualification at the right time can open the door to a new career or the next step in their current one,” said Mr Jerome McCoy, Acting Chief Officer in the Ministry of Education and Training.
“I would encourage anyone considering this opportunity not to wait. Speak with an approved institution, secure your acceptance letter and submit your application before the deadline.”
Applicants must get an acceptance letter from their chosen institution before applying. They will also need photo ID, a birth certificate, proof of right to be Caymanian, a character reference, a résumé and their WORC registration status. Applications are submitted online at https://moescholarships.gov.ky/ under Local TVET Grant Application.
