The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability is adjusting its planned community outreach activities for the HEARTS Initiative, which focuses on the prevention, detection and management of high blood pressure (hypertension).
The Ministry’s standalone district events scheduled for East End (5 November), Bodden Town (6 November) and North Side (12 November) have been cancelled. Instead, the Ministry will bring its outreach activities to the upcoming Pirates Week District Days from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Cayman Brac Hearts Day, scheduled for Friday 13 November from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cayman Brac Beach Resort, will proceed as planned.
Residents will have opportunities to learn about hypertension, meet the HEARTS team, ask questions and receive free blood pressure checks. Ministry representatives will also be available to provide information about the proposed National Cancer Registry and its accompanying White Paper, answer questions and explain how residents can participate in the ongoing public consultation. The Ministry will also share information about its wider programmes, proposed legislation and other public consultations.
Minister for Health, Environment and Sustainability, the Honourable Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, said:
“HEARTS is about helping people understand their blood pressure and take practical steps to protect their health. We want to meet people where they are, make it easier for residents to get their blood pressure checked and provide information about preventing and managing hypertension. With a large number of community activities taking place over the coming weeks, we have adjusted our outreach plans so that we can bring HEARTS directly into these community settings.”
Little Cayman National Cancer Registry consultation
The Ministry also reminds Little Cayman residents that the public consultation on the proposed National Cancer Registry is ongoing.
Residents who wish to participate in an in-person consultation in Little Cayman, or would prefer to speak with the Ministry’s team by telephone or Zoom, are asked to contact the Little Cayman Health Centre by Thursday 5 November 2026, to indicate their preference.
The clinic can be reached at 916-5395 or 948-0072.
The Ministry encourages residents across all three Islands to take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about its programmes and initiatives, ask questions and share their views on matters affecting their health and well-being.
