Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Hundreds of runners, walkers, and families gathered on Sunday morning for the inaugural RUBiS Fuel to Finish 5K, raising funds for the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) while celebrating community spirit and healthy living.
The event began and ended at the RUBiS Walkers Road Service Station, with participants taking on a scenic 5K route along South Church Street, South Sound Road, and Walker Road. The race attracted people of all ages and fitness levels, from competitive runners aiming for top times to families enjoying an active morning in support of a charitable cause.
Joshua Morgan claimed the top male finisher spot with a time of 19 minutes and 25 seconds, while Amy Lunnon led the female field, finishing in 22 minutes and 25 seconds. In the youth category, 10-year-old Baraka Kimathi secured first place among young participants.
Following the race, attendees enjoyed refreshments, prize giveaways, and a celebratory atmosphere. Organisers credited the event’s success to strong community participation and the support of volunteers and sponsors.
RUBiS extended thanks to Race Caribbean and the Pink Ladies for their assistance in coordinating a safe and well-organised event. Prize sponsors, including Jacques Scott, Cayman Turtle Centre, and Godfrey’s Enterprise, contributed gift certificates and raffle items, while additional support came from Coca-Cola Cayman Islands and Taino Chips.
RUBiS Cayman Islands Managing Director Andres Barthel said the turnout reflected the strength of community engagement across the islands.
He noted that the event demonstrated RUBiS’ commitment to supporting initiatives beyond its core business, while promoting health, wellness, and social impact. Organisers say plans are already underway to make the Fuel to Finish 5K an annual event on the Cayman Islands calendar.
The funds raised will go toward supporting NCVO programmes, which provide assistance to children, families, and individuals in need across the Cayman Islands.
