Sophia Harris returns to law with a different vision for Cayman.

Sophia Harris, who founded Solomon Harris in 1997 and built it into a successful independent Cayman law firm, is returning to the industry after retiring in 2020. She says the decision came down to one thing, which was the chance to reimagine the way professional services are delivered. “I didn’t come back to build the same firm twice,” said Harris.

The Cayman Islands has long been home to world-class professional services. Yet as firms have grown and services have become increasingly specialised, many clients have found themselves receiving advice through separate channels rather than through a single, coordinated lens.

Rozen Legal was created to restore that connection, blending the personal understanding people value, with the expertise, Rozen’s proprietary technology and strategic insight required in an increasingly sophisticated world.
At the centre of Harris’s approach is a simple principle, which is to understand the client before anything else.

“Before we talk about solutions, I want to understand where the client wants to end up,” she said. “Working with them, not just for them. With that core philosophy, and with our technology, we are able to spend more of our time building relationships of trust and protecting our clients’ interests.” It’s an approach that came out of conversations between the cofounders, and Harris is clear that the firm only works because of what each of them brings to it. “We’d all been circling the same frustrations for years from our own side of the industry, and none of us could have fixed them alone,” she said.

The founding team will be announced over the coming months. Harris is Caymanian and has spent more than two decades shaping the jurisdiction’s legal sector, and she sees Rozen Legal as both a better experience for people and a better way to work for the next generation of Cayman.
