The Parliament of the Cayman Islands will officially commence the 2026-2027 Session with the State Opening of Parliament on Friday, 19th June 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the House of Parliament. The ceremonial proceedings will mark the formal opening of the new Parliamentary Session and bring together Members of Parliament (MPs), senior Government officials, members of the Judiciary, invited guests and members of the public.
As part of the State Opening, Her Excellency the Governor, Mrs. Jane Owen, is expected to deliver the Throne Speech, outlining the Government’s legislative priorities and policy agenda for the upcoming Session. The Clerk will read the Proclamation summoning the Parliament Session. The proceedings will also include traditional ceremonial elements associated with the opening of Parliament.
The State Opening follows the conclusion of the 2025-2026 Session, ending 1st May 2026, which comprised of five Meetings and multiple Sittings during which MPs considered a range of legislation, Government business, Parliamentary Questions, and Private Members’ Motions.
