On 15 September 2025, due to a publication of concern in the local media, the RCIPS (Protective Services Unit) commenced enquiries into allegations of misconduct by a staff member at the Layman E. Scott Sr. High School in Cayman Brac.
Prior to this publication, the concerned staff member made a report to the Cayman Brac Police Station regarding a social media post citing similar allegations. The Cayman Brac Police conducted an investigation into this report.
This latter investigation concluded with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions preferring the charge of Use of an ICT Network to Annoy, Harass or Threaten against the person who initially posted the allegations: a woman, age 57 residing in Cayman Brac.
The initial investigation conducted by RCIPS (Protective Services Unit) concluded with there being no evidence to support the allegations against the staff member. The staff member concerned has been cleared of any wrongdoing during the extensive enquiries that were undertaken.
