Two Caymanians will be presented with Certificates and Badges of Honour at the Cayman Islands’ annual King’s Birthday Parade and Honours Ceremony, to be held outside Government House, West Bay Road on Monday, 15 June, starting 8:00 a.m.
Governor Jane Owen will present the awards to Corinne Glasgow for services to the community and voluntary organisations and Shaun Matthew Tracey for services to chess in schools and the wider community.
Members of the public, who are invited to attend the ceremony which marks the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III, are asked to be seated by 7:30 a.m. to ensure the timely commencement of proceedings.
In commenting on the event and honourees, Governor Owen said, “This year’s honour recipients represent the very best of what makes our community special - a selfless desire to make life better for those around them, and in particular a commitment to support our young people. His Majesty The King’s birthday ceremony provides a moment to publicly recognise them. I warmly encourage everyone to join us on Monday, 15 June to do that.”
The parade will feature members of the uniformed services including the Fire Service, Regiment, Police, Prison Service and Coast Guard. To showcase the commitment and service of Cayman’s young people, the Girls’ Brigade, Scouts, Cub Scouts and Cadet Corps will also participate in the event.
The event remains a significant national tradition, bringing together service organisations, youth groups and the wider community to celebrate dedication, achievement and service to the Cayman Islands. As part of the wider King’s birthday celebration, an invitation only garden party was hosted by the Governor last Friday.
The ceremony and parade will be streamed live on the Cayman Islands Government YouTube channel and CIGtv for those persons who are unable to attend.
