The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is inviting members of the public to nominate outstanding older persons to serve as Older Persons Month Ambassadors for 2026.
Celebrated annually in October, this year’s Older Persons Month will be observed under the theme “Honouring our Older Persons through Action and Protection.” The theme encourages the community to move beyond recognition to meaningful action that supports the dignity, wellbeing, inclusion and protection of older persons across the Cayman Islands.
Each year, Older Persons Month Ambassadors are selected to recognise individuals 65 years and older who have made a substantial and lasting impact at the community, district or national level. Nominees should demonstrate a strong record of service, leadership or advocacy that positively impacts the lives of others and extends beyond their paid profession.
Recognition is particularly given to individuals who support charitable causes, advocate for the wellbeing of older persons, serve and inspire people across generations, and have demonstrated sustained community involvement for more than three years.
Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised?
Members of the public, families, community groups and organisations are encouraged to nominate an older person whose service and commitment have made a meaningful difference in the Cayman Islands.

Nomination forms and full criteria are available at gov.ky/web/msdi/publications.
Completed nomination forms must be returned to the Older Persons Month Committee at the DCFS office or emailed to dcfs@gov.ky.
Nominations must be received by Monday, 31 August 2026. Older Persons Month will be celebrated throughout October 2026, with activities recognising the contributions of older persons and encouraging the wider community to play an active role in supporting and protecting older persons.
