Shortly before 7:15AM on Thursday, 27 August, police and other emergency services responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a motor car in the vicinity of Hurley Merren Boulevard.
It is reported that the motor car had a collision with a motorcycle travelling west along Hurley Merren Boulevard in the vicinity of the Red Bay roundabout. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, while the motor car sustained major damage.
A third vehicle, travelling eastbound in the opposite lane, also sustained minor damage during the collision, and no injuries were reported.
The driver of the motor car involved in the collision and the rider of the motorcycle were medically assessed at the scene. The rider was subsequently transported to the Anthony S. Eden Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in stable condition.
Both the motorcycle rider and the driver of the motor car were breath tested, and both returned negative results.
The rider was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and remains in police custody.
A police cordon that was put in place while officers processed the scene has since been lifted. Hurley Merren Boulevard was reopened thereafter to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The collision remains under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit.
