A 65-year-old American woman visiting the Cayman Islands aboard a cruise ship has died following a swimming incident in George Town on Tuesday, 6 October.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., police and other emergency services responded to reports of a woman experiencing difficulties while swimming in waters near North Church Street.
Members of the public assisted the woman from the water, and she was brought ashore aboard a vessel while cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered.
She was transported to hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has extended its condolences to the woman's family and friends.
