The Rotary Club of the Cayman Islands Sunset (“Rotary Sunset”) hosted its annual Vocational Service Excellence Award Ceremony last Wednesday, 28 January, 2026, recognizing outstanding professionals whose commitment to ethical standards and service have made a meaningful impact within the Cayman Islands community.

Vocational Service, one of Rotary International’s ‘Avenues of Service’ focusses on encouraging Rotarians and professionals alike to exemplify integrity, leadership, and excellence within their chosen fields.

This year’s Vocational Service Award was presented to PC Donville Myers of the RCIPS, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to policing services in the Cayman Islands and sustained dedication to community development beyond the call of duty.

The award highlights individuals who not only excel professionally but also actively uplift others through mentorship, volunteerism, and ethical conduct. As such the other distinguished honourees for 2025-26 included Mr. Carlos Vargas, an engineer with the Water Authority; Ms. Tamara Hurlston, Director of the Department of Financial Assistance; Dr. Marc Lockhart of the Poinciana Rehabilitation Center and Mrs. Sophia Francis, a Speech And Language Therapist with the Cayman Islands Government

In addressing attendees, the Club’s Director for Vocational Service, Sharon Marie Martin, MBE, M.Ed. JP, said “Tonight, we are proud to celebrate the outstanding work you do in our community. We recognise not only your professional excellence but also your personal dedication and the meaningful impact it has made- and continues to make.”

Susie Bodden, President of the Rotary Club of Cayman Islands Sunset, said that “Rotary believes that true service begins in the workplace. By recognising professionals who lead with integrity and compassion, we celebrate the powerful role vocational excellence plays in building stronger communities.”

The ceremony was attended by Rotarians, family members, and invited guests, all of whom gathered to acknowledge the positive influence professionals have on Cayman’s social and economic fabric.

The Rotary Sunset continues to champion initiatives that promote professional development, ethical leadership, and community service, reinforcing Rotary International’s global commitment to ‘Service Above Self.’
