Sustainable Cayman Launches “We Are Sustainable Cayman” Campaign – Bringing Local Stories of Stewardship and Shoreline Resilience to Life

Sustainable Cayman today unveiled its new “We Are Sustainable Cayman” campaign, an invitation to the entire community to discover who we are, what we do, and why protecting our islands’ natural heritage matters for every Caymanian today and tomorrow.

Through a series of heartfelt short films, monthly video spotlights, and real on-the-ground experiences, the campaign shines a light on the people and places driving environmental stewardship across the Cayman Islands. Each month will explore one of Sustainable Cayman’s core themes — shoreline restoration, youth engagement, the healing power of nature, culture and heritage, and the role of visitors and tourism in building a sustainable future.

Professionally produced anchor videos, paired with bite-sized social stories, will let real voices and real scenes from across the islands tell the story: how restoring shorelines creates resilient communities, how young leaders are shaping tomorrow, and how reconnecting with nature and culture strengthens us all.

“We want sustainability to feel personal and relevant to everyday life,” said Roshini Seeram, Executive Member. “These aren’t distant environmental issues — they’re our backyards, our beaches, our shared future. By sharing the stories of the people planting mangroves, mentoring youth, and honouring our cultural ties to the land and sea, we hope every Caymanian sees themselves in this work and feels inspired to join in.”

Beyond storytelling, the campaign is about listening. Throughout the year Sustainable Cayman will invite residents, youth, partners, and decision-makers to share their own priorities through a community survey and other feedback opportunities. That input will directly shape future projects and keep community voices at the heart of everything we do.

A highlight of the campaign is the premiere of a new short film at CayFest on Film 2026, filmed at the launch of Pirate Cove Nature Park. The film captures how shoreline restoration and pocket parks help us reconnect with nature, gather as a community, and celebrate the cultural species that define Cayman’s heritage. Screening March 7th at 2pm in Cayman Brac in the Conference Room at Alexander Hotel, and March 15th, at 3:20pm, in Grand Cayman at Camana Bay Cinema. Members of the public, organisations, and potential partners are warmly invited to follow the campaign, attend events, watch the films, and get involved — whether through volunteering, collaboration, or financial support.
