On Saturday, 29 August, at approximately 9:30PM, a cargo vessel, having departed Grand Cayman to Jamaica, came across a distressed vessel identified as “J Big Cot”. The three males aboard the vessel indicated that the vessel had broken down and had been drifting at sea for approximately five days. The captain of the cargo vessel subsequently rescued the three men and transported them to Kingston, Jamaica, which was the cargo vessel’s next scheduled port of call.
The three men were: one Caymanian and two Jamaican nationals, one of whom was subsequently identified as 22-year-old Michael Gollab, who is wanted by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) in connection with an attempted murder incident reported in June 2026.
The cargo vessel arrived at the Kingston Harbour at approximately 9:00PM on Sunday, 30 August, where the three men were handed over to police and remain in police custody.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the RCIPS, in collaboration with regional partners, including the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
