The Youth Services Unit (YSU) is bringing its Youth Empowerment Symposium (YES) to Cayman Brac for the first time on Friday, 12 June 2026. Under the theme, “Money Matters: Empowerment Through Financial Literacy,” the event will provide students and young adults with practical tools to strengthen their financial knowledge and future planning.

The symposium features a “School Delegates Conference” for Layman Scott High School students. Through workshops led by the CICSA Co-Operative Credit Union and the Cayman Islands Centre for Business Development, students will explore topics including financial literacy, budgeting, and entrepreneurship.

The event will conclude with a “Young Adult Evening” for persons aged 18 to 30, featuring networking opportunities, dinner, and a panel discussion on budgeting, investing, entrepreneurship, and side hustles.

Young adults are encouraged to register early, as spaces are limited. RSVPs can be submitted at www.youthservices.ky/events.

Launched in 2021, YES was created to support the personal and professional development of young people across the Cayman Islands through engaging discussions, practical learning experiences, and networking opportunities.

“Financial literacy is essential, and we are excited to bring this important programme to Cayman Brac,” said Head of Youth Services, Mrs. Mellony Bryan-Waugh. “We want participants to leave feeling empowered to make informed decisions about their financial futures.”

The symposium is supported by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage; the Ministry of District Administration & Home Affairs; the Ministry of Education & Training; and the Ministry of Tourism & Trade Development; Kirkconnell Ltd.; CG BritCay; Scott Development; Island Energy; Water Authority; Cayman First; Cayman National Bank, along with several contributors, and community partners.
