Island Primary A and Cayman Prep A secure Inter-Primary Cricket titles It was an unforgettable three days of youth cricket at the Annex Field and Smith Road Oval as the 2026 Inter-Primary Cricket Competition came to an exciting conclusion with Island Primary A and Cayman Prep A securing the prestigious girls’ and boys’ titles respectively.
Girls’ Playoffs:
With the Annex Field primed and ready for some exciting youth cricket, the girls’ semi-finals took centre stage as Zone A winners First Baptist Christian School was set to face Zone B runners-up Sir John A. Cumber Primary and Zone B winners St. Ignatius Catholic School would meet Zone A runners -up Island Primary A. Unfortunately, Sir John A. Cumber Primary School was unable to field a team due to school commitments so First Baptist advanced to the final. In the second semi-final, Island Primary A defeated St. Ignatius Catholic 40 runs to 38 runs.
With a welcome night’s rest behind them, the two finalists took to the Smith Road Oval the next morning with Island Primary A securing the 2026 title with a 92 run to 59 run victory over First Baptist. In the third-place game, Sir John A. Cumber Primary overcame the disappointment of not featuring in the semi-finals to beat St. Ignatius Catholic 66 runs to 44 runs.
Boys’ Playoffs:
In the semi-finals, Zone A winners East End Primary lost out to Zone B runners-up St. Ignatius Catholic 96 runs to 95 runs and in the second semi-final, Zone B winners Cayman Prep A outlasted Zone B runners-up Prospect Primary 53 runs to 52 runs.
In the final, Cayman Prep A secured the 2026 title defeating St. Ignatius Catholic 73 runs to 50 runs. In the third-place game, East End Primary overcame Prospect Primary 84 runs to 81 runs.
To bring the curtain down on an exhilarating season, the Organising Committee introduced the inaugural Girls and Boys All Star Games featuring the best primary school players. In the girls’ game, the Blue Iguana Warriors downed the Silver Thatch Strikers 85 runs to 84 runs and in the boys’ contest, the Silver Thatch Strikers defeated the Blue Iguana Warriors 115 runs to 104 runs.
Following the All Star Games, a special presentation was made to Ronnie Roach by the Organising Committee and the Cayman Cricket Association for his invaluable contributions to developing school cricket throughout the years and for shaping the foundations of cricket in the Cayman Islands.
