Launched in October 2025, “Welcome to vaCay” introduces travelers to a different kind of Caribbean vacation, positioning Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman as an antidote to the increasingly exhausting nature of modern travel. Rooted in the islands’ culture, natural beauty and the warmth of Caymankind, the campaign invites visitors to slow down and experience the destination beyond the traditional sun, sea, and sand.

“Seeing ‘Welcome to vaCay’ recognized internationally is a proud moment for the Cayman Islands, and especially for the Caymanians who helped bring it to life,” said Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism. “This campaign was created to share what makes our islands truly special: our people, our culture and the way we welcome the world. To have that story recognized on a global stage is incredibly meaningful.”

The campaign’s dual recognitions highlight both its creative breakthrough and its commercial impact:

  • Travel Weekly Magellan Awards: “Welcome to vaCay” received a Silver Award in the Travel Destinations Marketing Campaign-Advertising/Marketing category. The annual awards recognize excellence in travel marketing, design and services across the global travel industry.
  • The Drum Awards for Advertising: The campaign was named a finalist in the Advertising: Travel and Tourism category, recognizing creative excellence in destination advertising. Winners will be announced during The Drum Awards Festival in London, scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2026.

These accolades are a testament to the creativity and talent we have here in the Cayman Islands and the strength of our destination's appeal,” said Hon. Gary Rutty, Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development. “In an increasingly competitive global tourism market, we continually strive to distinguish the Cayman Islands through innovative and compelling destination marketing. The international recognition of the ‘Welcome to vaCay’ campaign underscores the strength of our approach in promoting the Cayman Islands and reinforces our position as a premier Caribbean destination.”

“I congratulate the Department of Tourism for producing a campaign that is earning recognition on the world stage, and I applaud our tourism partners who consistently the exceptional experiences our marketing campaigns promote to the world.”

Beyond its international recognition, the campaign represents an investment in Caymanian creativity and authentic storytelling. Filmed in the Cayman Islands, more than 85% of the cast and crew were Caymanian, placing local talent at the heart of the production and ensuring the destination's people and culture were authentically represented.

Since its launch, the campaign has reached international audiences through an integrated mix of advertising, digital content, and earned media. The recognition also comes during a period of strong tourism performance for the Cayman Islands. Through September 2026, the destination recorded 11 consecutive months of year-over-year stayover visitation growth, alongside a 32.8% increase in hotel room revenue between January and September compared with the same period in 2025.

“These recognitions reflect the dedication of our teams here in Cayman and across our overseas offices, as well as the Caymanian talent and tourism partners who bring our destination to life,” Harris added. “While these awards celebrate the campaign, they also celebrate the people behind the experiences we share with visitors every day.”
