Remembrance Day Ceremonies Set for Sunday, 8 November
General
04 November 2026, 05:18 AM

The Cayman Islands Government, through its Protocol Office, invites the public to the annual Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremonies, which will be held simultaneously at the Cenotaphs, Elmslie Memorial United Church, Grand Cayman and the District Administration Lawn, on Sunday, 8 November starting 10:45 a.m.

Remembrance Day is commemorated to honour those individuals who served, sacrificed and gave their lives in times of war and conflict, particularly during the First and Second World Wars.

The ceremonies will include a religious service, including laying of wreaths and parade of the uniformed services.

At this year’s event in Grand Cayman, a special tribute will be paid in honour of the late veteran Graham Walker, for his lifelong service and dedication to the veteran community. Mr. Walker, a former Royal Air Force radio engineer who served during the 1956 Suez Canal crisis, was a long-serving secretary of the Cayman Islands Veterans Association, supporting and preserving the legacy of fellow veterans.

Attendees to the Remembrance Day events are required to be seated by 10:30 a.m. They are also encouraged to wear business attire and, in keeping with tradition, a poppy as a symbol of remembrance. Poppies are available at the Government Administration Building, Grand Cayman and the District Administration Building in Cayman Brac. The Cayman Islands Veteran Association will also have poppies available at the event.

Remembrance Day public holiday will be observed on Monday, 9 November.
