The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service (CBC), in collaboration with partner agencies, has intercepted a significant quantity of suspected ganja concealed within an imported shipment arriving in Grand Cayman.
On Thursday, 23 April 2026, CBC officers identified an imported package as suspicious during routine screening procedures. Officers secured the shipment and conducted a physical examination, which led to the discovery of several parcels containing vegetable matter suspected to be ganja, weighing more than thirty (30) pounds.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the matter. The investigation remains active, and further inquiries are being pursued by CBC.
Marlon Bodden, Deputy Director with responsibility for Investigations, stated, “This interception demonstrates CBC’s continued vigilance and commitment to protecting our borders from the importation of illegal drugs and other prohibited goods. Through strong collaboration with our local and international law enforcement partners, we remain focused on disrupting criminal activity and safeguarding our communities.”
