Just before 6:00am, Saturday, 9 May, police officers responded to a report of an abandoned boat on the reef, off Austin Connolly Drive in East End.

Officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) and the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) conducted coordinated searches of the vessel, surrounding shoreline, and nearby waters in an effort to locate any injured persons or survivors. No persons were located on board the vessel or in the surrounding area.

Several fuel barrels and life vests believed to be associated with the vessel were also recovered along the coastline.

The CICG subsequently removed the vessel from the reef, and it was seized by police for investigative purposes.

Anyone, who believes they may have observed any suspicious activity in the East End district, is encouraged to contact the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.

Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via the Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via the RCIPS website.
