Clifton Hunter Graduates Named 2025/2026 GHSS Scholars

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) proudly recognised two remarkable students at the 2025/2026 Government High School Scholar (GHSS) Award Reception, held on Thursday, 12 February. The event celebrated the outstanding academic achievement, leadership and dedication of this year’s recipients, both proud graduates of Clifton Hunter High School.

The 2025/2026 Government High School Scholars are:

• Aspiring actuary, Chloe Reid, who achieved an exceptional 18 CSEC and WJEC passes and was named Clifton Hunter High School’s 2025 Student of the Year. She has been actively involved in sports, Youth Parliament and debate competitions. Chloe plans to pursue degrees in Actuarial Science and build a career in the finance sector.
• Maria Robinson, who earned 12 CSEC and two GCSE passes with top grades, securing the title of Clifton Hunter High School’s Top Academic Student in 2025. She has shown leadership through Key Club, mentoring peers, and founding a Medical Society Club to guide aspiring medical students. Maria plans to pursue a medical degree and specialise as an obstetrician and gynaecologist.

The GHSS Award remains one of the most prestigious academic honours available to Caymanian government high school graduates, providing up to CI $100,000 per year for study at QS Top 100 universities.

MoET’s Chief Officer, Ms. Cetonya Cacho, highlighted the award’s importance to students and schools:

“The Government High School Scholar Award removes financial barriers, raises expectations, and encourages every student in our government schools to aim higher and dream bigger. The standards are high because our students’ potential is even higher. Chloe and Maria’s achievements demonstrate that excellence in our government schools is not the exception — it is the expectation.”

Minister for Education and Training, the Honourable Rolston Anglin, underscored the national impact of the scholarship:

“This award is a strategic investment in the future of the Cayman Islands. By supporting our highest-achieving students to access world-class institutions, we are equipping our young people with the knowledge, skills and global exposure necessary to contribute meaningfully to our nation’s future. These scholars embody the promise and progress of our islands.”

Selected through a competitive process, Chloe and Maria exemplify the scholarship’s commitment to academic distinction, leadership, and service.

The Ministry of Education and Training congratulates both scholars on this significant achievement and remains dedicated to empowering Caymanian students to reach their fullest potential.
