The Cayman Islands Government, in partnership with the United Kingdom Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK MCA), the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI), the Cayman Islands Coast Guard, and the Port Authority, is offering a free one‑day maritime safety course next month.

The course — “Safe Operation of Small Commercial Vessels” — is designed to strengthen safety standards for small boats and commercial operators across the Cayman Islands.

Training takes place at Inspire Cayman Training, 131 McLendon Drive, George Town, with four sessions available:

  • Thursday, March 12
  • Friday, March 13
  • Saturday, March 14
  • Sunday, March 15

Each session runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and covers topics like navigation, emergency preparedness, pollution prevention, and communication at sea. Participants will also review real-world accident cases and best practices for safe operations.

The course is open to anyone 17 and older, including small commercial boat operators, watersports professionals, and others in maritime industries. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion.

Spaces are limited, and early registration is encouraged.
