Dr. Balvin B. Braham, who assumed the presidency of Northern Caribbean University (NCU) on 1 September 2026, will visit the Cayman Islands 15–18 October. His visit comes ahead of his formal inauguration as President of NCU on 12 November.
During his visit, Dr. Braham is expected to undertake a wide-ranging programme of meetings and consultations with representatives of the Cayman Islands Government, educational institutions, Cayman Islands Conference officials, and NCU alumni.
Among the highlights of his visit, Dr. Braham will share his vision for NCU with alumni at a special Meet and Greet on Thursday, 15 October, at 5:30 p.m. He will also address students at Cayman Academy during a special morning assembly on Friday, 16 October.
On Saturday, 17 October, Dr. Braham will deliver the sermon at the George Town Seventh-day Adventist Church. At 4:00 p.m., he will address a joint AY meeting bringing together Adventist churches across the Cayman Islands.
Immediately following AY, at 6:30 p.m., prospective students are invited to an informal session with Dr. Braham to ask questions about enrolling at NCU and learn more about the University and its programmes.
Dr. Braham brings more than three decades of leadership experience in higher education, organisational management, and faith-based administration. An accomplished executive, educator, pastor, and author, he has served in senior leadership roles involving strategic planning, institutional development, governance, fundraising, and executive leadership development within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, both regionally and internationally.
An alumnus of NCU, Dr. Braham holds a Doctor of Education in Organisational Leadership from Argosy University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Andrews University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Diploma in Education from Northern Caribbean University.
Prior to his appointment as NCU president, Dr. Braham served as one of the two Vice Presidents of the Inter-American Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. His previous leadership appointments include President of the West Jamaica Conference, Principal of Savanna-la-Mar High School, and Adjunct Lecturer at Northern Caribbean University, Andrews University, and the Inter-American Division Theological Seminary. He is also the founding local coordinator of NCU’s Western Regional Campus in Montego Bay.
His governance and institutional leadership experience includes service on the boards of Northern Caribbean University, Montemorelos University, the Inter-American Division Adventist Theological Seminary, and Andrews Memorial Hospital, as well as the Board of Education and Board of Ministerial and Theological Education of the Inter-American Division.
Throughout his career, Dr. Braham has demonstrated experience in fundraising, public-private partnerships, crisis management, and organisational governance, with an emphasis on accountability, transparency, and institutional development.
He has also published works on leadership and evangelism and has contributed to the development and mentoring of leaders across the global Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Dr. Braham succeeds Professor Lincoln Edwards, who demitted office as President of Northern Caribbean University in May 2026.
