PROVEN has announced the appointment of Sonja M. Salmon as President and Chief Executive Officer of PROVEN Bank, with responsibility for the group's operations across the Cayman Islands and St. Lucia. Salmon, a Grand Cayman-based executive with more than 20 years of experience in financial services, assumed the role on September 1, 2026.
Across her career, Salmon has consistently been entrusted with executive oversight, people leadership and operational excellence. As Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel for HSBC's Bermuda and Caribbean operations, she served on the bank's executive management team, chaired the Risk Management Committee, and reported to the Board Audit & Risk Committee, with enterprise-wide oversight of credit, compliance and operational risk.
Previously, she served as Director of Enterprise Strategy at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, as Senior Legal Counsel on the Mergers & Acquisitions team at RBC Financial Group, and as a Strategy and Operations Consultant at the Business Development Bank of Canada. Most recently, she served as Regional Manager at Sol Petroleum, a member of Sunoco LP, where she held P&L responsibility across multiple Caribbean markets.
A trained lawyer (LLB and JD) and Accredited Director with an MBA, Salmon brings that full range of oversight, governance and operating leadership to PROVEN Bank.

Beyond her professional career, Salmon is an established and active member of the Cayman Islands community. Over several years she has volunteered her time to youth development on the island, including mentoring young people, supporting local student-athletes and offering guidance on education, scholarship and university preparation, and she volunteers with the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. Her sustained local engagement reflects the community focus she brings to the bank.
