UPDATE: Woman Charged in Relation to December 2024 Fatal Collision

The woman, age 24 residing in West Bay, who was previously arrested in relation to a fatal collision on 7 December, 2024 in the vicinity of the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, has since been formally charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving and Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Causing Death.

 

She made appearances in court on 23 September 2025, and 20 January 2026, and has been granted bail pending a further appearance.

Police Investigate Fatal MVA Involving a Cyclist, 7 December

 

Around 12:05AM this morning, Saturday 7 December, police and other emergency services responded to a report of an MVA on Esterley Tibbets Highway, in the vicinity of Pinehurst Road.

 

It was reported that a cyclist was travelling north along Esterley Tibbets Highway towards West Bay, when he was struck by a Honda HRV travelling in the same direction.

 

On arriving at the scene, officers observed the cyclist unresponsive and CPR was commenced.  The victim was then transported by ambulance to George Town Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

 

The driver of the Honda HRV, a 24-year-old woman of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and transported to the detention center where she remains in custody.

 

The deceased is a 22-year-old male Nepalese national, who resides in West Bay. 

 

The police express their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

 

The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Management Unit. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or have any other information, to contact 649-6254.
